Songs of Love on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams!

On Friday, October 6th, Songs of Love was featured on NBC Nightly News on it's "Making A Difference" segment. One of the kids featured was the recipient of the 10,000th "Song of Love" Saeed Boynes who is battling Sickle Cell Disease. The song was recorded by audience members at a Black Eyed Peas concert in Darien Lakes, New York.

60 Minutes Wednesday with Dan Rather!

On Wednesday, June 29, the Songs of Love Foundation was featured on the CBS/60 Minutes Wednesday with Dan Rather anchoring the segment. It features several children and their families as they experience hearing their "Songs of Love" for the first time. Shea Stadium Turns Into a Massive Recording Studio as Bob McGrath and 15,000 Young Mets Fans Record a "song of love"!

Bob McGrath of Sesame Street and over 15,000 young Mets fans recorded a personalized ÒSong of LoveÓ at Shea Stadium for 10-year-old Matthew McKinnon.Ê Matthew is receiving treatment for Nephrotic Syndrome Ð an indicator of a number of kidney-affecting diseases Ð at Schneider ChildrenÕs Hospital in New Hyde Park, N.Y. ÊMatt, and avid Mets fan, was present as he witnessed the massive crowd singing their hearts out just for him .ÊBeach Boys ÒPet SoundsÓ co-creator Tony Asher composed the song. Mets PA announcer Alex Anthony added his voice on the song as well. Popular New York TV Weatherman Mr. G contributed a spoken introduction. The Gibson Foundation and the Heather on Earth Music Foundation sponsored the event.



Songs of Love presides over the closing bell at NASDAQ

On Friday, August 18th, 2006, Songs of Love Founder John Beltzer and Songs of Love staff presided over the closing bell at NASDAQ. John also performed a special "Song of Love" specially created for the NASDAQ family.ÊNASDAQ was able to get a sense of what it feels like to receive a "Song of Love"!



"Songs of Love" Now Being Offered To The Children at Give Kids The World!!

Through the astounding efforts of one of our Music Messengers, Sandra Rose of Southport, NC, children and their families staying at Give Kids The World are now being given the opportunity to request a "Song of Love" from the Songs of Love Foundation. Sandra has two grandchildren, Zachary and Seth, who have experienced their Wish vacations at Give Kids The World, and have also received their very own "Song of Love." Every family that visits Give Kids The World will be given a Songs of Love brochure that includes the profile sheet that our songwriters use to create each individualized "Song of Love." Songs of Love is grateful to Sandra Rose and Give Kids The World for helping us reach many more children with our Medicine of Musicª! .



Songs of Love Celebrates 10,000 Songs
at Black Eyed Peas Concert!

On Friday, September 8, The Songs of Love Foundation engaged thousands of Black Eyed Peas fans in the recording of the 10,000th "Song of Love". The concert took place at the Six Flags Darien Lake in New York.Ê The recipient of the milestone song was 14-Year-Old Sickle Cell Anemia patient, Saeed Boynes, who is being treated at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx. The words to the chorus of Saeed's "Song of Love" was shown on 4 huge video screens so all the fans were able to sing along. All of the voices were captured live and recorded right over the song's track! Saaed was presented with his "Song of Love" and a copy of the video of everyone singing his name at his home in the Bronx. Click here to hear the song and see the video.

New York City Council Members
sing on a "Song of Love"
for Gabrielle Camacho!

New York City Council Member, David Weprin (see photo) and other members of the New York City Council took time off from representing the voices of their constituents to raising their own voices as they sang on Gabby Camacho's "Song of Love" on the steps of New York's City Hall! Songs of Love is a Hit on the
David Lee Roth Radio Show!

In 1999 David Lee Roth contacted the Songs of Love Foundation asking if he would be able to sing a song for an ailing child. We enthusiastically said yes and he went on to record a "Song of Love" for 9-year-old Ashley Abernathy who was battling leukemia. Recently John Beltzer had a chance meet up with David again during a recent radio interview, in which Dave heard the Ashley Abernathy song for the first time since he recorded it back in 1999. He was pleased to learn that Ashley, now 15, had made a complete recovery. Click here to hear the entire interview.
On a subsequent show on April 12th, David mentioned that he was asked to sing his hit song "Jump" for a private party. Songs of Love Celebrates Its 10th Year!

On February 16th, 2006, Songs of Love celebrated its 10th birthday. Later this year, the 10,000th child will have received his or her own "Song of Love". A major event will be held to commemorate both our 10th year and 10,000th "Song of Love". Songs of Love Releases Its
First Nationally Distributed CD
Featuring Top Country Artists!

Songs of Love is proud to announce the CD release "The Medicine of Music Country Compilation, Vol. 1". It's available now at Borders, K-Mart and Walmart. It can also be purchased from this web site. This special compilation features hit songs by country artists like Leann Rimes, Vince Gill, George Strait and many others! There is also a 'Song of Love' called "Destiny's Song", written for 11-year-old Destiny Dyer who is battling a rare bone disease. The song is written by Anita Cochran, Tammy Cochran, Deborah Allen and Songs of Love staff writer, Carl Allocco. A first ever 'Songs of Love' video for Destiny's Song has also been produced. A portion from the sale of the CD will go directly to Songs of Love and its mission of music. The video is currently being played on the cable channel GAC (Great American Country). John Alexander, Director of Music Marketing for GAC, spearheaded the project out of Nashville. Songs of Love appreciates his amazing efforts!

Recruits Collegiate Chorus to
Celebrate it's 6000th Song of Love!

On Wednesday, November 3, the Songs of Love Foundation celebrated its 6,000th "Song of Love" by involving over 450 students of Hofstra University in New York. The milestone song was recorded for leukemia patient Brendan Miranda. Brendan and family were present at the event! This special event was sponsored by Hofstra's Student Government Association, Hillel: The Center for Jewish Life on Campus and the Inter-Fraternity/Sorority Council. Other groups involved are Hofstra's Student Activities, the Newman Club, the Protestant Club, the Muslim Students Association, Circle K, the Hofstra Gospel Ensemble and Sigmacapella. There were many Songs of Love writers who also contributed their talents and voices! They include: Ruth Antrich, David Cooper, Irving Louis Lattin, Carl Allocco, Chris Stavropoulos, Bill Smith, Kathy Hart, Meny Beriro, Candi Beriro, Alwis Demoya, Alex Forbes, John Beltzer, Richard Berardi and Danny Obadia. Songs of Love Holds Its
6th Annual Golf Outing!

Over 100 golfers once again came together in song for Leukemia patient Victor Galfo. Victor is into Rap and is a Yankee fan! Click here to hear his "Song of Love", written and performed by Danny Obadia. Last years song recipient, Riley Goodwin, showed up in person with her Mom Helen and sister Samantha! It was a treat for all the Golfers to meet one of the song recipients in person.

Saxe Sings for Songs of Love!

Songs of Love from Saxe is a collection of personalized songs written by students in workshop classes at Saxe Middle School in New Canaan, CT. Directed and produced by 6th grade teacher, J. Moses, his students wrote and recorded songs for 4 children who had been referred to them through the Songs of Love Foundation. The recording session produced a CD for each of the 4 children. Mr. Moses has also compiled the 4 songs into one collection, to produce a CD that is being sold to benefit the songs of Love Foundation.

Songs of Love Engages New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg
and Guests of Queens Borough President Helen Marshall's
State of the Borough Address In the Recording of a "Song of Love"!

Songs of Love Founder John Beltzer lead a crowd of dignitaries, including New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Queens Borough President Helen Marshall, in the live recording of a "Song of Love" for 5-year-old leukemia patient David Sookhoo. David was all smiles as he witnessed so many singing his name! Over 1000 people participated in the sing-along at the Queens College Colden Auditorium. Helen Marshall personally invited John to speak on behalf of the Queens, New York based Songs of Love Foundation. The crew of 60 Minutes II was there to tape the event as part of a segment to be anchored by Dan Rather. Click here to see a video clip of the event.

Blue Rill Day Camp Turns Into A Symphony!

On August 7th, 2003, over 800 campers of the Blue Rill Day Camp in Monsey, New York, raised their voices for 5-year-old leukemia patient Katie Smercak. 8-year-old Nicole Krinsky sang the lead on Katie's "Song of Love". Nicole's mom and dad, Joyce and Alan, serve on the Songs of Love Foundation advisory board. Nicole's sister, Dana, helped with the event as well. Songs of Love is grateful to the whole Krinsky family! The Blue Rill Day Camp and its owners, Howie & Susan Gulker, have been generous supporters of our mission of music for the past three years. "Song of Love" Performed at the new Maria Fareri Children's Hospital Construction Site!

Friends of the new Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center, in Valhalla, NY, scheduled for completion in 2004, performed a "Song of Love" for Westchester Medical Center kidney transplant patient Brett Bollerman. Songs of Love was invited to the special donor event to demonstrate the new hospital's intention of incorporating unique programs for the children. Songs of Love Founder John Beltzer directed the hardhat donning guests in the unfinished lobby as they all raised their voices in song. The Benson-Scott Big Band, a sixteen piece orchestra, also played along on Brett's "Song of Love". This collaboration with the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital will mark the first time that Songs of Love will be on the menu of special programs offered to the children from the very first day a new hospital opens its doors. Songs of Love In Seoul, South Korea!

Recently, the Songs of Love Foundation received an email request from Seoul, South Korea, by a caring dad named Jaihyuk Song. He asked if we would create a "Song of Love" for each of his children, 9-year-old Wooseok Song and 5-year-old Seunghyun Song. Both of them have battled end stage renal disease and have each received a kidney transplant and are doing well! The Songs of Love Foundation was delighted to grant the request. The music for Wooseok's and Seunhyun's "Songs of Love" was composed by Ruth Antrich and the words were written by JJ Ko. Younmee Shin, a well known Korean singer, sang lead on Wooseok's song, and the chorus was performed by the The Korean Channel Boys and Girls Choir under the direction of Jae Won Yang. Sisters Sarah and Elizabeth Yi sang the lead on Seunghyun's "Song of Love".

'78 Championship Yankees Score
a Hit Song for Songs of Love!

During a business networking event at Mickey Mantle's restaurant in New York City, Songs of Love was the chosen charity for the evening. All the attendees, including Goose Gossage, Sparky Lyle, Roy White, Chris Chambliss and Mike Torres from the '78 New York Yankees championship team, sang a "Song of Love" for 14 year-old leukemia patient Daniel Healy. Daniel is an avid Yankee fan! Goose Gossage added a special spoken introduction to Daniel's "Song of Love". Words & Music by Alex Forbes and David Wolfert.

Golfers Sing Off For Songs of Love!

On September 24th, 2002, the golfers of the 4th Annual Songs of Love Golf Tournament in Hamburg, NJ, helped raise over $20,000 for the Songs of Love Foundation. After pitching some puts, the golfers delightfully sang on pitch for Shaun Field, a 12-year-old child battling leukemia. Athletes Give Gold Medal
Performance on "Song of Love"!

Athletes of the 2002 Maccabi Games took time of from rigorous competition to unite in song for Odell Terry, a child battling Cystic Fibrosis. Odell personally received his "Song of Love" at the Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN.
