Imagine if Karen Carpenter was paired not with her wholesome brother Richard, but John Lennon. This magical pairing of sounds is beautifully captured by Nathan and Rebecca Bliss. After receiving a double Bachelors in Saxophone Performance and Jazz Composition from Berklee College of Music, Nathan realized his true passion was writing simple, acoustic, heartfelt songs. Similarly Rebecca, who received a degree from the University of Kansas in Vocal Performance with an emphasis on Opera, discovered her gift of folk singing and songwriting. This talented duo met a little over three years ago in Kansas City and began performing all over the Midwest, gaining notoriety and playing to packed clubs. It soon became clear that their connection was more than just musical. Nathan and Rebecca moved to New York City in 2007 where they were married and began a new musical journey.
The Blisses currently live in Brooklyn where they continue to write, record and perform throughout the NY area at some of the city’s most notable clubs and concert halls with their band Barnaby Bright. Their song, ‘If I Came Back as a Song’ is currently a finalist in the International Song Competition and was chosen out of over 15,000 entrants.
